From the time he was five years old, Dr. Rodney Horvat knew he wanted to be a dentist -and that he wanted to live in Florida. As a child, he began preparing for his goal by being mentored by his family dentist and neighbor Dr. James Dwan.
Dr. Horvat graduated from the University of Michigan in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. In 1985, he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit in Michigan, and in 1988 he earned a Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Kentucky. After teaching at the University of Kentucky, he fulfilled his lifelong dream and moved to Florida where he joined Dr. Richard Chace, Jr. in practice. He is a member of the Dental Society of Greater Orlando, the Florida Dental Society, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Horvat is known for his genuine warmth, and gentle, caring demeanor. As an active member of the community, he often volunteers his time doing "lunch and learn" presentations to local dental hygienists, and giving presentations of the newest techniques in periodontal medicine in local seminars. He also serves on the Valencia Dental Hygiene Board.
Dr. Horvat is a sports fan who follows a variety of college and professional sports, and enjoys participating in recreational water activities - particularly scuba diving, snorkeling, and jet skiing. A devoted family man, he and his lovely wife Valerie are the proud parents of their 2 children, Rachel and Steven.
